Please be aware that we are one week away from the first day of antlered deer season with shotguns on Monday, 12/2.  The Nockamixon Mountain Bike Trail System will be CLOSED on that day in accordance with park management's wishes, out of respect for the hunters utilizing the park on this day, and to ensure the safety of our regular trail users.

Do NOT ride at Nockamixon on Monday, December 2, 2013.  The trails will also be CLOSED the following Saturday, 12/7, the first Saturday of the season as well.  Please remember to wear orange all other days when riding at Nockamixon from now to early February Mondays through Saturdays - be safe, be seen.

Trail work on Upper Hammer continued

11/24/2013

Work continued today on Upper Hammer despite the cold, windy weather to improve flow and drainage issues in an area just north of last Sunday's improvements.

Thanks to all that came out to help today.

Tower Rd. Parking Lot Expanded to 40 Spaces!

11/22/2013

The RideNox Council is pleased to announce that, due to the financial contributions and volunteer labor of many generous individuals that we realized the doubling of the Tower Road parking lot in less than one day's effort today.  Work began at dawn this morning and concluded more than two hour prior to sunset this afternoon resulting in the creation of a fenced 40-space lot meeting all DCNR engineering specs and requirements.  Furthermore, several diseased trees and a quantity of invasive species were removed from the woodland in the vicinity of the trailhead at the same time.

We expect that the lot's expanded capacity should meet the parking demands of the trail system's ridership for the foreseeable future.  Again, a huge thank-you to all those who donated to RideNox Council members at the trailhead  and/or bought RideNox T-shirts in anticipation of funding this much-needed improvement.  Your continuing support of the RideNox Council's ongoing efforts to improve the mountain biking experience at Nockamixon is certainly appreciated!

The RideNox Council requests on behalf of park management that all mountain bikers and other trail users avoid the area of the Tower Road parking lot from dawn to dusk on Friday, November 22, 2013.  This lot will be officially CLOSED to ALL users with appropriate signage and barricades indicating such.  Please do not move or drive around these barricades - unauthorized vehicles are liable to be towed at owners' expense.  As always, "No Parking" regulations remain in effect along Tower Road and Fink Drive.

Please park at the Haycock Boat Launch parking area off Mountainview Drive (Route 563) on 11/22 and ride across the bridge to the trail system's northern trailhead where you'll access the Hammer loop instead.

Thanks to all wearing bright colors for hunting season!

11/17/2013

It has been noticed that many mountain bikers have been riding with safety orange or yellow-green clothes this fall during small game and archery seasons at Nockamixon, a definite increase over the last couple of autumns.  The RideNox Council appreciates this effort by all riders and strongly urges all those planning to visit the Nockamixon Mountain Bike Trails this fall and early winter to acquire appropriate safety clothing.

Please remember that the mountain bike trails at Nockamixon are located in an area of the park open to hunting and that hunting does indeed actively take place there.  Park management has asked the RideNox Council to remind all trail users utilizing our trail system to "be safe - be seen".  Please wear appropriate clothes Monday through Saturday from now through early February 2014 in respect of safety-conscious hunters in close proximity to our trails.

Deer season utilizing shotguns will open the first Monday after Thanksgiving (12/2/2013) when this safety practice will become even more critical.

Builders Notes

11/13/2013

Work will be performed on the Upper Hammer trail on Sunday 11/17 to correct the drainage issues caused by down trees redirecting water flow. Those interested in volunteering to assist in this matter should be on-site around 10 a.m. Shovels, rakes and wheel barrows would be of use if you have them available, however spare tools are usually made  available by the build crew. Stop by during your ride and throw some dirt or leave the bike at home and put in an honest labor effort. This will be a fairly large scale improvement and we could use all the help we can get. LOVE YOUR TRAIL.
 Thanks,
  RIDENOX COUNCIL
