Trail Use Advisory

10/28/2013

Please be advised that mountain biking is only permitted on the trails posted for that particular use, found only on the east end of the park between rte 563 (mountain view drive) and Southpark rd. All other trails found within the state park boundaries are reserved for hiking and or horseback riding, with the exception of the paved trail between the marina and the fishing pier areas. DO NOT discredit our user group by disregarding these rules, which could be punishable by a fine and jeopardize our relationship with land management agencies.
  Thank You,
  RIDENOX

Indian Valley Bikeworks

10/14/2013

The RideNox Council extends its gratitude to the management of Indian Valley Bikeworks for establishing a requirement to members of their race/ride team to contribute two trail work days per season to qualify for team status. A substantial amount of trail improvements were made to the eastern woods loop on Sunday during our group build session, including cedar corduroy as well as rock armoring and drainage improvements. A sense of community and responsibility is the goal set forth by Ed Hall in his decision to include trail work in his shop team regimen.  The eight volunteers found the work rewarding and fun and were left with enough energy to enjoy the benefits of their hard work on their post build ride.
   Thanks for all your efforts!

2013 take a kid mountain biking day

10/8/2013

A terrific turnout of more than 40 kids and their parents came out to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and awesome trail conditions on Sunday. Huge thanks go out to the supporting local shops and to the volunteer staff for making this event such a success. Props to Lisa of CUTTERS for her crazy baking skills and for making provisions through Specialized and I.M.B.A to provide the t shirts, number plates, and stickers. It's great to see so many families bringing up the next generation of riders, whose ages ranged from 2 to 15, the most prevalent being 8 followed closely by 4.
  Thanks again,
See you next year.

Parking Updates - Fall 2014

10/1/2013

With the fall riding season underway, events like Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day scheduled, and hunters/hikers also parking at Tower Road, parking there is at a premium.  Please keep the following in mind:

1.) Do NOT park along Tower and Fink roads - Nockamixon Township has posted these as "No Parking" areas as it makes it difficult for farm equipment and emergency vehicles to pass.

2.)  Please consider parking at Haycock boat launch with over 200 paved parking spaces and only a quick pedal across the bridge to the Mountainview Drive (Route 563) trailhead.  (Do not park on the shoulder of the road at the trailhead itself as this area is typically used by fishermen.)

One positive of parking at Haycock is that it offers quicker access to the Quakertown and Allentown/Bethelehem areas.

Another plus is that the end of your ride can be nothing but the fun of descending Upper Hammer!

Drainage work on South Park and Upper EWR

10/1/2013

This past weekend two separate crews accomplished work installing cedar corduroy on South Park near the Gnome Home and doing major drainage work on wet spots along the Upper EWR trail.

This work should collectively improve riding in these areas.  Future work will continue to focus on the Upper EWR, Upper Jaywalk, and South Park trails where trail conditions will be upgraded as time permits.
