Today a problem area on Upper Jay Walk got armored. It was not that wet at the moment but once it starts to rain again there should not be any problems with this area anymore. There was a couple tons of rock moved from the access road into the trail in this area. Big thanks to everyone who came out to help.
Cleared the brush back on lower EWR , lower Jay Walk, and South Park from the gnome home to the bump track tonight. The rest of the trails that still need some cutting will be getting done later this week and early next week. Most of the trails are running good with the brush already cut back. Ran across this guy on South Park.
Used the new rocks to get some armoring done. Finished up a good sized section of trail that had some wet spots on Upper Jay Walk so that there should not be any problems anymore. Using the power wheelbarrow really helps get stuff done faster than by hand. Also moved one of the cedar sections from the "Outdoors Day" onto the trail and placed it after the cedar sections that are already in the trail on the Hammer loop.
Cleared all the brush on the sides of Hammer and Cold Spot loops tonight. They should be good for acouple of months before the woods try and take them back again.
Thanks to all the people, shops, and sponsors who came out to the "Get outdoors trail day" on Saturday. With the donations that were received the trails were able to get rocks for armoring and cedar posts for making trail signs. Huge thank you to Zaveta Excavation for donating the 16 ton load of nice flat rocks, truck, and driver to get them there. With couple of strategic dumps there should be enough rocks to fix most if not all of the wet areas on Upper Eastern Woods, Upper Jay Walk, and then some. Thanks again for everyone who came out for the day to help out the trails.
Some cedar construction for the skills area at the "Get Outdoors Event" at the Haycock boat launch. You can get some practice on them in a nice wide open area before you run into them on the trails. After the event they will make their way to the trails to be used in a couple of spots where they are needed.
